The team celebrated last night at the Lancaster Hotel in London after winning the 2009 Charitytimes Award for Best Use of Technology in the third sector.
Director Keith Fernett commented that this marked the culmination of 3 years worth of hard work and was a significant moment for Anchor House, punching well above its weight in a very competitive list of UK finalists!
Anchor House uses technology to help over 200 previously homeless residents every year take back control of their lives.
We do this through customising the use of technology down to a room and individual level. This has involved using open source applications to optimise streaming of TV content direct to residents rooms. From there Amino boxes were installed to combine PC, TV and messaging abilities, all on the same device.
